Blackberry Classic Launch

Blackberry Classic Release Date

BlackBerry Classic's presence aims to succeed because of the BlackBerry Bold 9900 predecessor did not. Released in 2011, the 9900 has BlackBerry 7 OS, powerful hardware, four-row QWERTY keyboard and touch-screen BlackBerry, but not completely reverse the fortunes of the company, after iOS and Android.

Three years later BlackBerry Classic price with price $ 449 (around £ 285, AU $ 546) makes the signature design of the BlackBerry, but rely on the wonderful memories BlackBerry fans. You still get a great keyboard, and even still running Android, but with a small 3.5-inch screen is not comfortable in the age of large-screen mobile phone, and the awkward square aspect ratio inhibit all activities except writing and editing text. Hardcore emailers who can not deal with touchscreen typing can find enough RIM's glory days are here to give two thumbs up before giving them the same digit in the exercise of this keyboard is fantastic difficulty.

BlackBerry has taken another swing at the signature Bold design, which we saw in the last year the BlackBerry Q10, surprisingly, Classic originally known as Q20's. In any case, you'll find a 3.5-inch screen that is slightly larger than the Q10, but still has a resolution of 720x720 pixels square. The phone itself has a thickness of 5.1 inches, 2.8 inches and 0.4 inches.

As the name suggests, this phone offers a classic BlackBerry design. A stainless steel frame bordering the phone full length, while borrowing power of the device and style. Three buttons sit on the right side: volume control, mute button and press hold to BlackBerry Assistant. SIM card slot and SD card sitting on the left side: the phone receives a nano-SIM card and SD card up to 128GB. The back of the plain with the BlackBerry logo, but has a grippy texture that looks nice.

Of course this is a BlackBerry, so we are here for the keyboard. BlackBerry has always positioned itself as a champion who would not dream of leaving behind a physical keyboard, and the company's efforts to shine here. The layout will be completely familiar to anyone who uses a BlackBerry in the last three or four years, and it is almost identical to the one that appears in this Q10.

Three key lines running along the width of the phone, and smaller, the fourth row sat under it. Typing feels fantastic: each key-shaped with small mountains and depression if you type with touch, you'll always be aware when your fingers to switch between keys, which helps with accuracy.

Four key utility is sitting just below the screen Call, Menu, Back and End are doing what they say. An optical touchpad sits in the center and serves as a cursor that lets you move around the site or document, and makes it very easy to select text or batch rim email to tweak mass. Blackberry Classic also offers a shortcut button: hold a special key to access certain functions. Pressing the "A" for example, led to the Address Book, while pressing "Q" will immediately switch silent mode. You can also press any key on the keyboard and assign your own shortcuts to specific contacts or applications.

Software and Features

Classical same BlackBerry operating with 10.3.1, and experience here is pretty much identical to what we see in the BlackBerry Passport. Software weaknesses remain in the platform, and while it supports Android, you are mostly limited to what was available in the Amazon Appstore. If you happen to have the APK file for the application you want to install, you can also load it up. There is also an app store BlackBerry World: BlackBerry says that the general expectation is that you will get a secure, enterprise-level applications from the BlackBerry World, turning to the Amazon app store for your entertainment needs.

Selection of limited application, the aspect ratio of the square will be a bigger problem, because many Android applications just looks weird in a square format. There are various ways to fix it: if you swipe down from the top of the screen in BlackBerry 10.3.1, you will call up the menu of this application. When you run Android applications, you will see a prompt to "Size" and tap, and you will be able to choose from three different preset screen ratio, which might help things a tad.

It also offers the BlackBerry Blend, which is a kind of command center for BlackBerry users. Once you install the application to your PC, Mac, or mobile devices running iOS or Android, you will have almost full control over your BlackBerry phone just connect it to your computer with a USB cable or with your device via Wi-Fi or cellular network.

With Blend, you can write an email, BBM, and text messages, and respond to all your messages directly through the app, and check your calendar and contacts synchronized with your device, no data is stored on a PC or tablet you're connecting to Blend, so there was a little worried. It could also prove to be a real time saver for those times when you do not have connectivity but want to remain productive.

Blend the most interesting features is the file management. This app gives you access to almost all of the devices, including documents, files, photos and videos. In fact you can also add files to your BlackBerry device through the Blend.

Achievement

The Classic is powered by a 1.5GHz dual-core Qualcomm 8960. Paired with 2GB of RAM, we saw nary a bit of lag or stutter since bounced around the phone, email or snapped photos prioritized. Most of our testing range to work with text and web browsing. Stepping out of the comfort zone, and things are a little less clear: we ran to lag when firing Android apps, and games like GT Racing 2 is presented occasionally choppy frame rate. This phone offers a storage capacity of 16GB, and supports up to 128GB on a micro SD card.

The call quality is good: We tested the phone AT & T's LTE network here in San Francisco, United States, and could hear everyone we have spoken very clearly. Corresponding loud speaker phone, and nice and clear voice calls. The audio quality is a bit too thin and tinny suitable for things like music, so stick to headphones.

This phone has been tested for 17 hours of talk time, and more than 13 hours of video playback. Testing our many ranges in web browsing, messaging, and writing, occasional phone calls, and navigating around the Bay Area with BlackBerry maps application.

Camera

8 megapixel camera on the back of the phone to take a picture serviced, given enough light and stable subject.
