Design and Features

Design MFC-J470DW, 16.1 inches wide by 14.7 inches and 7.1 inches (45.2 cm were 24.6 to 47.6). That's not the smallest printers on the shelf, though Epson still holds the rights to a small printer like the series XP-420, but the reason they are very small because they do not have the productivity features of the MFC-J470DW printer. Office can save money on paper by using the duplexer, a useless piece of integrated hardware that automatically flips a piece of paper to print on both sides.

There is also a 20 sheet auto-document feeder (ADF) tray above are useful for batch scanning or faxing using a dedicated phone line. Of course, if you want a digital feature, you can also do PC Fax using an Internet connection to communicate directly from the computer to the unit fax a document without first having to print. If you're looking for relics of an older design, there Brother, check the control panel. Button for mode selection, menu navigation and phone number entries are all made of soft rubber that feels uncomfortable to use and bring down the overall user experience a step. At least you get a 1.8-inch color LCD screen on the left side which shows things such as ink levels, help setup and location of a paper jam. MFC-J470DW as smart work printer, which might explain the lack of photocentric features such as a memory card reader and USB port compatible with PictBridge to pull images directly from flash storage drives and digital cameras. But that does not mean you can not occasionally print photos on this machine. In fact, the paper tray at the bottom has a removable plastic tabs that easily adjusts to accommodate the size of photo paper such as 4 by 6 and 5 times 7, in addition to standard sizes such as letter, legal, executive, and even envelopes and index cards.

Flatbed scanner glass is also suitable for letter-size documents and can save the project in a variety of formats to a hard-drive folder, email messages, Microsoft Office Project, or directly to Scansoft Paper Port documents. If you follow the instructions simple manual and connect the printer to a Wi-Fi network, you can even set the scanner to automatically submit projects for compatible mobile devices running the application Brother iPrint & Scan for iOS, Android / Amazon Fire, Windows Phone 7 or 8, and BlackBerry (Cortado). Brother offers a full suite of cloud printing software that lets you use a smartphone or tablet in conjunction with Web services such as Facebook, Flickr, and Dropbox. In addition, Brother also works well with Google Cloud Print and Apple AirPrint wireless to send jobs to the printer and from the internet using a web browser Google Chrome and Apple iOS devices.

Ink and Supplies

The ink cartridge bay sitting behind a thin plastic door on the right of the paper tray and home cyan, magenta, yellow, and black fill the ink cartridge into the printer. The cartridges are so easy to install that you may not even need a manual to figure out easy and convenient access door for swapping them. This process is much more convenient than remove the entire scanning bay and auto document feeder. You will also spend less on ink refills compared to competitive printer in its price category $ 100. Assuming you are investing in capacity cartridge Brother XL offers more front less ink, the costs add up to 2.4 cents per page color ink and 4 , 1 cent for a page of black ink. That's less than the cost of the same XL ink from Epson XP-420 (3.5 cents for color, 5 cents for black).

Achievement

MFC-J460DW have higher rates of speed tests, both in the acceptable range for a sub $ 100 inkjet printer. It flew through a standard 10-page black text document in our sample at a consistent level of 9.78 pages per minute, double the speed of the HP Officejet 4630 all-in-one at the same price. Brother print engine also defeated the competition in full color graphic pages tester with an average speed of 3.93 pages per minute. For comparison, the Epson XP-420 can not even churn out one page (research), with only 0.42 pages printed per minute. If speed is a priority for your business, the Brother MFC-J460DW is the right choice.

The photo quality is also above average. Separate ink tanks give an extra level of detail that competing printers with tri-color single tank can not offer, and there are real differences in the smooth transition of color, especially in the face tones and multicolor portraits. Driver software lets you cycle through a different print quality to save ink remaining, and you will be more than satisfied with the printer's color reproduction, dark places of our sample images are dense and unmarred by color bleeding. Bright colors pop as it should be, and the text is well formed all the way to the smaller font size.

  1. Brother printers are always used to be budget friendly, however, the issues are quite similar to that of epson, hp and cannon printers, specially epson printer error 0x97 is quite common.
